Torre del Águila (Eagle’s Tower)
or Castillo de Las Coloradas (Las Coloradas Castle)
Depending on how you leave Ocean Dreams, it will be the 1st thing you see looking towards the sea.
The Torre del Águila is just in front of our villas, to the south of Lanzarote, being the only defence element built in the southern area.
Its building was planned half way through the XVIII century, in 1741, with the purpose of protecting the island from the constant pirate attacks that the island suffered. And it had to be re-built some decades later, in 1761, after being destroyed by troops from Algeria.
On an architectonic scale, the Torre del Águila is a circular shaped building built, mainly, with quarry stone, with small details made of Canary pine wood.
